MDA Summer Camp Counselors Needed!

Who: Men and women (over 18 years of age) who want to give one week of their summer to a young person with muscular dystrophy.

What: MDA Camp is a week-long, overnight camp where youngsters with disabilities take part in activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, arts, crafts and fun social events. We are in need of volunteers to be paired with each camper in order to ensure that they have a fun, safe and healthful week. Meals and housing are provided for volunteers.

Where: Gold Coast Christian Camp, Lake Worth, FL

When: June 20th-25th

Volunteer at the Everglades

Time: 9:00 AM

– Painting projects

– Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, close-toed shoes (sneakers) that you wouldn’t mind getting paint on. Bring food for lunch/snack, and we’ll provide the water and paint supplies

– Remember: You receive a FREE ENTRANCE PASS to the Everglades each time you come in volunteer!! The pass is good for a week to enter at Shark Valley on the 41 or the Main Entrance from Homestead. So bring your family/friends into the Everglades for free!

SWITCHBOARD OF MIAMI SEEKING CREOLE & FRENCH CREOLE-SPEAKING VOLUNTEERS

Switchboard of Miami, Inc. the area’s leading crisis counseling & information and referral services, is recruiting volunteers to answer the agency’s helpline information and referral calls, and provide emotional support to the Haitian community in this time of grief.

Haiti’s large scale disaster of January 12th, created an urgent need to provide telephone counseling to the area’s large Haitian community impacted by this tragic experience.

We are currently recruiting motivated individuals 18 y/o and over, who speak Creole and/or French-Creole language, and who find gratification in helping those in need.

Training will be provided at Switchboard of Miami, 701 S.W. 27 Ave., Miami 33135.

Computer-Savvy Students Needed!

United HomeCare Services, a non-profit agency that serves the elderly and disabled with in-home services, is seeking computer-savvy adults to volutneer their time/skils to help the elderly beginning in January. We ahve several grant-awarded computers for homebound elderly, but need people to set them up with programs and Internet in Doral area office, then deliver to 40 designated clients, provide one hour of trainng and three additional one-hour training sessions. You can be the difference for people who are otherwise alone by helping them connect to the outside world.

Spanish speakers a huge plus. Background check required.
